Try Team Building at the beginning of your event
Team building activities are terrific at any time, but often, clients forget the “extra benefit” of doing them early on in a program. Consider this . . .Client: We want to book a team building activity for the last afternoon of our three-day conference.PTB: We are thrilled to help you with that, but might I suggest you do it at the beginning of the conference?Client: At the beginning?PTB: Yes.Client: Why? We’ve always done an exciting activity at the end, to wrap it all up.PTB: Well, that’s definitely a terrific idea, and we can do that, too, if you’d like, but if you do it at the beginning, you organically get your participants involved, early on.Client: How do you mean?PTB: Well, you have attendees coming from all over the country, right?Client: That’s correct.PTB: And most of them don’t know each other, or if they do, only know names and email addresses, right?Client: I’d say that is an accurate statement.PTB: Well, if we do an engaging and interactive team building program to kick off the first morning, or even after lunch, when attendees arrive at the evening cocktail reception, prior to dinner, they will already know 9 other individuals, with whom they interacted, on their team, that morning.Client: That’s an interesting point.PTB: And, they’ll have a common subject to discuss . . . the terrific time they had, and certainly didn’t expect, at the activity.Client: True.PTB: And, the winners of the team building program might even wear their gold medals with pride, sparking further conversation.Client: Wow. I hadn’t thought of any of those points. You’re totally right. Let’s do it at 10am on day 1, right after the opening speaker.PTB: Done!Of course, we are thrilled to share our programs at any time, but we do encourage clients to consider doing them early on at a conference/meeting/event for this very reason.Ah, the power of team building!
