CHARCUTERIE CHALLENGE
As formal dinner parties were largely replaced by cocktail parties, in the early 20th century, “finger foods,” in lieu of scheduled, course meals, became increasingly popular. American soldiers, serving in Europe during World War II, were introduced to the various charcuteries and cheeses of France, Italy, Germany, and Greece. Upon returning home, they brought the interest in these exciting gastronomical delights with them. In Charcuterie Challenge, teams complete a variety of mental and creative tasks, using our iPad Minis and Premier Pursuits®, our proprietary app, to earn the supplies needed to prepare their section of the charcuterie table. Topping it all off is the tasting, perhaps paired with wine or cocktails, of the goodies, creatively presented throughout the entire table.
The Experience At A Glance
After a brief “Charcuterie 101” lesson, covering some basics, teams are provided our iPads, loaded with Premier Pursuits®, our proprietary app. Using these iPads, teams complete various trivia, mental, and minimally-physical and creative challenges, all themed for the experience. As various benchmarks are met, teams receive the various supplies and ingredients. From there, the charcuterie creation begins.
In order to cultivate true teamwork, no recipes, and minimal instruction, are provided. The names of the dips to be created, along with meats, cheeses, accouterment ingredients, and preparation supplies are all provided.
Each team creates its own six-foot section of the charcuterie table. With multiple tables aligned together, the final product is a sight to behold . . . and taste!
For those who prefer to have each individual participant create his or her own charcuterie board . . . perhaps to wrap up and take home as a surprise . . . we slightly alter the experience to incorporate this.
Are you interested in a “themed” charcuterie experience? We’re happy to customize it for you. A few fun examples include:
Christmas cookie charcuterie boards.
NFL football field charcuterie boards.
fruit & dips charcuterie boards.
movie night.
and more!
While the final scores are tabulated, based upon iPad scores, charcuterie board displays, cleanliness, team spirit, and a few other criterion, participants have an opportunity to sample the entire charcuterie board, assembled as one, from each individual team, as they wait, with bated breath, for the announcement of who will take home the gold medals!
“I love that the event is exactly as described and designed for the time we needed it. We loved the videos and pictures as memories to show in our meeting the next day. I will continue to use Matt for any team building work in the future.”
It’s important for us to have a personal connection with you. As a result, we don’t provide every little detail here.
