CONDUIT COLLABORATION
CHALLENGE
Oil, natural gas, biofuels, sewage, water, beer, hot water . . . the list of items that flow through a pipeline, or conduit, goes on and on. This is your opportunity to challenge your team with building its very own pipeline. Conduit Collaboration Challenge requires participants to fully communicate, collaborate (after all, it is in the experience name) and utilize creativity to successfully complete the challenge. Provided with limited, pre-determined supplies, each team designs and constructs its own section of the conduit, which, of course, is just one part of the whole. Will the pipeline carry its goods from start to finish? Will your teams’ section hold its own, or will it be the weakest link in the chain?
The Experience At A Glance
American cartoonist Rube Goldberg often depicted devices that performed simple tasks in indirect, convoluted manners. As a result, the term “Rube Goldberg machine” is used today to describe a chain-reaction type machine, or contraption, intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect, and often overly-complicated manner.
Conduit Collaboration Challenge starts off with an ice-breaking activity to get everyone into the creative and competitive frames of mind.
With instructions and pre-determined supplies in hand, teams are sent off to multitask, drawing upon their best collaborate efforts, and in a limited amount of time, create their individual sections of the conduit, in the style of Rube Goldberg.
While “fun” is prevalent throughout, the pressure is on as teams must work together, drawing on, and showcasing, its members strengths.
We believe that no team challenge is complete without some sort of live publicity presentation highlighting the team’s hard work, spirit, and collaboration. This is the “pitch.” Your participants create and perform this presentation for the judges, and their colleagues,” hoping for accolades, and thunderous applause . . . and of course, a lucrative offer of investment!
The stakes are high as each team attempts to successfully construct its portion of the conduit.
Will your teams’ section hold its own, or will it be the weakest link in the chain?
Will the final route of the conduit be smooth for the marbles that will traverse through it, or will it be a crumbling mess? Find out with your team!
“Our group of 35 unique individuals each found a way to shine and bring something to their team. The various activities allowed each member of the team to bring something to the table.
All in all it was a great experience that we are still talking about!!”
