PLANTERS, PAINTINGS, N’ PETUNIAS
The elderly . . . those who have lived long, fulfilling lives, raised families, taught younger generations, and contributed to our society in so many ways . . . often are left in facilities and forgotten about, except for the occasional Sunday visit. Planters, Paintings, N’ Petunias is your opportunity to spread some joy to those who may be alone. We’ve designed this original team building experience to foster good will, individual creativity, and teamwork, all in one. Participants paint their own unique designs on flower planters, and then show off their green thumbs by planting and nurturing a variety of botanical beauties, in the hand-painted pots. Last but not least . . . the group donates the planters to a local nursing home, bringing a personal bit of springtime to elderly individuals.
The Experience At A Glance
As we do with most of our experiences, we kick off this one with an ice-breaking activity or two to get the competitive and creative juices flowing.
Teams, if not pre-determined, are then created, and start earning points, by collectively completing photo, video, and trivia “cultivation challenges,” using our iPad Minis, loaded with Premier Pursuits®, our proprietary app.
Once the first benchmark is met, teams earn their paint pens and clay pots, and creativity takes command as the planters are painted.
Fear not . . . this experience is designed for both the Picasso-wannabes and those who think they can’t draw a stick figure. Additionally, the camaraderie of the team fosters collaboration, with those visual “artistes” helping, guiding, and encouraging their teammates.
While the planters dry, teams return to their iPads and continue earning points, in order to reach the next benchmarks, when they’ll earn additional supplies needed to complete their projects.
Teams then plant and nurture their own botanical beauties, in the pots they’ve brilliantly painted.
No team challenge is complete without some sort of live publicity presentation highlighting the team’s designs, spirit, and teamwork. Who knows . . . we may even hear a ditty from Little Shop of Horrors.
Whenever possible, a representative from the philanthropic organization accepting your generous donation, on behalf of the individuals who will receive it, will address your group, providing a heart-warming, face-to-face acknowledgment of your hard work.
