FOOD COURT FACE-OFF

team building food truck competition

Every shopping mall in the world has one. The choices are bountiful. Here is your opportunity to compete in the tastiest battle this side of Macy’s. Food Court Face-Off pits teams against each other, in a quest worthy of The Food Network. After competing in our M&M Face-Off Challenges, where they’re ranked, teams choose their cuisine, and then create dishes indicative of that region/culture. In addition to the cooking, each team will design and build, using limited, pre-selected supplies, a façade for its restaurant counter, as well as create a name, logo, and publicity presentation, performed live for the judges and potential “customers.” Would you rather ride the current trend and have your teams build food trucks? No problem!

The Experience At A Glance

  • The experience begins with the formation of teams and some spirited activities to get the energy flowing.

  • With smaller groups, teams then compete in our “M&Ms Face-Off” challenges, where they attempt to earn more points than their opponents, allowing them first dibs on the cuisine type they’ll then prepare for consumption.

  • A division of duties occurs, utilizing each team members’ strengths and imagination. Chefs begin cooking, while carpenters begin building (with limited supplies and a whole lot of creativity) a façade of the team’s restaurant counter. The marketing team works on the restaurant’s unique name, logo, and live publicity presentation, while the service team trains for the grand opening.

  • The ingredients are pre-determined, and teams select their restaurant “type” knowing only the “category” of cuisine they’ll prepare. Without specific recipes, it’s creativity, collaboration, and culinary skill that are forced into play.

  • Using criteria including the restaurant’s façade, complete with a “health department” cleanliness rating, name, logo, publicity presentation, and of course, presentation and taste of the culinary masterpieces, teams are judged.

  • The final stage, and often the favorite, is a “roaming” meal, where participants meander the food court.

  • This exciting face-off competition may also be designed for food “trucks,” in lieu of a food court, upon request.
